The show

From 21 October 2023 to 7 January 2024 the Fondazione Centro Studi sull'Arte Licia e Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti of Lucca presents the exhibition “Pensiero video. Drawing and electronic arts”, curated by Andreina Di Brino, scholar of aesthetics and languages of multimedia images and professor at the University of Pisa.

Between drawings, videos and video installations by national and international artists - including the extraordinary Little Italy (1990) by Nam June Paik, noble father of video art and performative and technological art - the exhibition offers a story that unfolds throughout the history of the exhibition of the Foundation, which, under the pioneering direction of Vittorio Fagone, paid specific attention to electronic arts and video art, but also within the framework of Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti's reflections on the need to underline the importance of drawing as a substantial medium of the creative process.

“Video thinking. Drawing and electronic arts” presents works by Gino De Dominicis, Lucio Fontana, Hans Namuth - Paul Falkenberg - Jackson Pollock, William Kentridge, Nalini Malani, Nam June Paik, Fabrizio Plessi, Quayola, Michele Sambin, Mario Schifano, Studio Azzurro, Grazia Toderi , Gianni Toti, Giacomo Verde, Bill Viola, Wolf Vostell: artists chosen by the curator, supported by the Scientific Committee of the Ragghianti Foundation, chaired by Sandra Lischi and composed of Fabio Benzi, Paolo Bolpagni, Martina Corgnati and Davide Turrini.

A project that fits into the spirit of research that characterizes the Foundation, for which each exhibition is an opportunity and tool for knowledge and in-depth analysis of trends and genres that have not been sufficiently investigated, or of lesser-known aspects of the artists' activity.
