closed Rotation of Japanese swords

The show

The sword , along with the gem and the mirror, is one of the three imperial insignia of Japan, representing respectively the three fundamental virtues of valor, benevolence and wisdom.

The loan from INTK (Itaria Nihon Token Kyokai) , the Italian Association for the Japanese Sword, consists of tokens, Japanese swords forged with the traditional method: tachi, wakizashi, katana and a lot, with their respective frames. The weapons on display are replaced approximately every six months so as not to damage the most delicate parts with prolonged exposure, such as the lacquered scabbards, and to allow the visitor to enjoy the variety of works received on loan.

INTK is a non-profit cultural association founded in Bologna in 1990 whose main purposes are the study of Japanese blades, intended as objects of art and not as “war” objects, and the dissemination of knowledge of tokens. INTK is accredited to the Japanese Embassy in Rome, the Consulate General of Japan in Milan, the Japan Foundation in Rome and the NBTHK (Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai, Society for the Conservation of the Japanese Sword) in Tokyo.
