The show

From 10 to 26 February 2023, Fondazione Stelline organizes and promotes Aedificante. Worksite. Culture. People. Futuro , an art photographic exhibition – curated by Angelo Dadda – which celebrates the “know-how” of construction site workers through the shots of Giacomo Albo . A cultural project wanted and conceived by an enlightened building entrepreneur from Bergamo, Giuseppe Taramelli , who intends to open a reflection on the future of the construction sector in Italy.

A gallery of 32 black and white images constitutes a story that immortalizes the metamorphosis of the construction site landscape, which is a set of solid structures, spirit of initiative and applied intelligence. It is a tribute to the work in progress on construction sites, in which the specialized, trained and prepared workforce is disappearing. Putting an entire industry in jeopardy.

Building means founding, constructing, realizing, raising structures, buildings, dwellings, but it also means putting them in relation with the surrounding environment, landscape and territory. And, even more, to build means to elevate oneself, to dispose oneself to inner growth, to be formed. The itinerary of the exhibition unfolds along this multiple interpretative track: the construction site is a place where "things" take shape, thanks to the scruple, dedication and attention of those who work there.

The exhibition, the result of a selection from a very rich photographic portfolio of six years of work in Italy and abroad, is divided into eight chapters in which the investigation focuses on the various aspects of the landscape of the construction site: the relationship with the territory and the surrounding environment, attention to materials, the relationship between spaces, the light element, the interior finishing, the anatomy of the structures, the almost-finished.

Shot after shot, the construction site intervention, be it on residential, educational, craft, tertiary or productive buildings, becomes a poetic image: the apparently chaotic whole in which the provisional and confusion dominate the scene, gradually transforms with work of the workers, who gain their own spaces, dig them, assemble them, raise them, build them.
