Antica straniera is the title of the exhibition that brings together the works of Braconi and Dorigatti , the result of intense work during the residency in the Casa degli Artisti in the early months of 2022.

Artists of different generations, Lara Ilaria Barconi (1992) and Piermario Dorigatti (1954) shared the large atelier on the second floor for three months, letting the proximity, space and diffused natural light generate a continuous comparison and experimentation between them. on that ancient foreign that painting is for them.

In the works of Piermario Dorigatti typical elements of his figuration stand out together with a greater intensity of light, which seems to have mixed in the chosen yellow, giving the works evident vitality. The sense of drama and play represent two polarities, which coexist in balance in a theater of the absurd. The memory from which Dorigatti draws his imagination is poured onto the canvases with absolute freshness, originality and pictorial relevance.

If for Dorigatti the work on the House was an immediate and constant jolt that immediately led him to draw sketches of figures that will vary little in their final structure, in the work of Lara Ilaria Braconi we are witnessing a visceral metamorphosis.

About three hundred drawings in charcoal and watercolor were the principle of the change: primitive signs and rudimentary forms imbued with inks. At the same time, the canvases began to go through passages of stratification and sedimentation of colors, shapes and images that typically overlap in Braconi's painting: from one day to the next the paintings changed, bringing further possibilities to the image, multiplying landscapes. From this magmaticity and material differentiation - guided by drawings, essential visual notes - Lara's work has evolved into two macro categories.
