The show

From 22 October to 26 November 2023, Fondazione Stelline hosts Gianluca Patti's solo exhibition DIARY OF A DREAMER, curated by Alessandra Klimciuk. The exhibition itinerary tells, through over thirty works and four installations, the artistic research of Gianluca Patti, who directs his capacity for expression and his vision of the world towards color and matter.

To fully understand Gianluca Patti's works we must include his personal experience and the memory of these first viewing experiences, in which the horizon we imagine is the one we see. The density of this existential tale together with the choice of materials evocative of his family past become essential elements to enter into his artistic process and understand its uniqueness.

Cement products, resins and pigments, but also plasterboard nets and sheets of bubble wrap, in memory and honor of his father's work, are decontextualized and reused to build layered and sculptural works with a visual grid that is his lens on the world.

The monochromatic world filtered through the unique experience he had as a child when he entered and left hospitals – his first drawing is a black spot – becomes an explosion of colors in his mature expression. The color and light of his works, however, arise from that darkness and preserve it forever. An artist's recognition of the profound value of his experience, as of every lived experience, even the most painful one, with which to reconcile the strength and fragility of one's resilience.
