From 5 December to 30 January 2025
In January, the Luciana Matalon Foundation hosts a selection of works from its private collection, alongside the works of the founder. The exhibition Luciana Matalon. Conversations celebrates the cultural legacy of an artist who, in 2000, created a place capable of encapsulating and enhancing over fifty years of creative research. Thus promoting a dialogue between contemporary arts to offer a universal reading of the world, a mirror of reality and a bridge to the invisible.
The exhibition includes paintings by international artists such as Armodio, Simone Butturini, Ennio Calabria, Gianni Dova, Samo Koler, Paola Levi-Montalcini, Monica Marioni, Josè Molina, Petros, Mimmo Rotella, and sculptures by Giorgio Scaini and Walter Valentini.
Among the exhibited pieces, worthy of note is a tapestry from the '70s, the result of the collaboration between Yvette Cauquil-Prince and Max Ernst, a prominent figure of surrealism. The work transforms Ernst's dreamlike visions into fabric, enhancing the innovative language of Cauquil-Prince, capable of perpetuating the poetics of modern artists through the medium of tapestry.
To complete the exhibition, a renewed arrangement of the permanent collection offers a journey through the career of Luciana Matalon. Paintings, sculptures, and unique jewelry tell the story of her inextricable fusion of reality and invention, revealing symbols and forms that transcend the boundaries of time.
