Contemporary art exhibition by Pietro Finelli, entitled Noir Time, third stage, after those at the Muzeul National de Istorie a Moldovei, Chisinau, 2018, and at the KCCC Klaipéda Culture Communication Center, Lithuania, 2019. The exhibition concerns a corpus of works - paintings, drawings, collages, videos, including unpublished ones, from Finelli's production over the last twenty years. For several years Finelli has been investigating the articulation and structure of the classic so-called noir cinema (that "noir" was a profoundly creative period, perhaps the most creative in the entire history of Hollywood "Paul Schrader).

Finelli is interested in this cinema in its propensity to process conflicts visually rather than on a thematic level, managing to create artistic solutions for social problems. In Finelli the soft veil of cellulose is penetrated by the gaze that builds new places, inhabited by a certain ambiguous, restless atmosphere. He transforms the paintings into segments of film and thus acquires the secret of a narrative suspended in the still image, which contains within itself the dilated spectrum of before and after. In that exact moment of the arrest of the cinematic continuum (the frame as a fragment and indescribable essence of the specific film - R. Barthes), Finelli unmasks the point of contact between truth and perception. Technically the photographic memory of painted images never gives in to the didactic; Finelli is not interested in quotation, revival, transposition from one media to another. Each scene distilled with surgical precision from the filmic continuum is sublimated into an abstract dimension in which the single episode becomes the alibi for a study of the mechanisms of intuition of reality filtered by the lens.
