The show

From 26 May to 26 September 2021, Fondazione Furla and GAM - Galleria d'Arte Moderna di Milano present Misfits, Nairy Baghramian's first solo exhibition in an Italian institution, curated by Bruna Roccasalva.

Part of the Furla Series, Misfits is a project conceived by the artist for the spaces of the GAM, which revolves around some fundamental nuclei of his research: from the interest in intervening on the spaces that mark a boundary, to the analysis of the relationship that binds the aesthetic object and the institutional framework that hosts it.

Misfits arises from the specific urban context in which the GAM is located: a garden whose access to adults is only allowed if accompanied by children. A series of large sculptures will inhabit the space inside and outside the museum, hybridizing the idea of play with a reflection on the aesthetic experience of inadequacy and imperfection.

Furla Series # 03 - Nairy Baghramian. Misfits is the result of the collaboration between the Furla Foundation and the GAM - Galleria d'Arte Moderna di Milano, with the generous contribution of the Henraux Foundation for the production of the marble works.
