The MAPP is a contemporary art museum located in the former Paolo Pini Psychiatric Hospital in Milan, created in 1993. The Paolo Pini Art Museum was inaugurated in 1995. The Museum is created with the collaboration of the Mental Health Department of the Niguarda Hospital. The aim of the project was to transform the psychiatric hospital into a meeting place where you can exchange ideas and languages between artists, professionals and people with mental illness. The Museum is a place for sharing cultural and artistic experiences between the so-called "healthy" and "sick" to contribute to the care and transformation of such an emblematic place. The works were created directly on the walls of the former asylum and are an expression of a psychological value. The MAPP is testimony to a real aesthetic transformation of the space that expresses the richness of human value. Today the Museum is a real art collection with over 140 artists and works. The permanent collection of the museum consists of murals, installations and sculptures located in the Paolo Pini park, outside and inside the pavilions.
