The Roman Amphitheater and Antiquarium Alda Levi Park is located in the city center of Milan. It constitutes a green space where it is possible to relax by observing the remains of the ancient Roman amphitheater. The Museum and the park of the Amphitheater are part of a larger archaeological site project that will connect all the areas where the oldest part of the city stood. The so-called Roman Milan extends from via De Amicis to the Columns of San Lorenzo, with the mosaics of the chapel of Sant'Aquilino, including the Imperial Amphitheater, as well as the largest in Italy after that of Rome and Capua. The Amphitheater, according to historical research, was originally almost as big as the Colosseum with a height of 36 meters and a capacity of 35 thousand seats. It was destroyed during the barbarian invasions of the fifth century, part of the surviving ruins was used for the construction of the church of San Lorenzo. The superintendency is completing the project to create an Amphitheatrum naturae where the missing architectural elements will be evoked by arboreal parts present in Roman times.
