From 10 November 2023 to 28 January 2024 the Civic Museums of Monza will host ISIA ACADEMY 1922-1943. When designers wore ties, an exhibition that recalls the brief but crucial story of the Istituto Superiore di Industrie Artistiche in Monza, one of the most important art and design schools active in post-war Europe.
Between period images, works of art and video installations, the exhibition tells the story and the protagonists of this extraordinary artistic event, demonstrating to the new generations of creatives that the young students of the time, who attended the courses of the 'ISIA, they designed and experimented with the same passion and dedication as contemporary aspiring designers, 3D modelers and digital illustrators, albeit with different tools, technologies and techniques.
In the second twenty years of the twentieth century, Monza hosted one of the most important art and design schools active in post-war Europe. The ISIA - Higher Institute of Artistic Industries - based at the Villa Reale in Monza welcomed internationally renowned artists as teachers and trained painters, sculptors and talented graphic designers. The exhibition – curated by Alberto Crespi – recalls this extraordinary artistic and educational event with dozens of works from the Civic Museums and private collections, illustrated with panels and audio and video installations.
