The Regional Archaeological Museum of Caltanissetta and Gibil Gabib area is located in the historic center of Caltanissetta, near the central station. The Archaeological Museum was completely renovated in 2006: in the contents, in the didactic and the remaking of the exhibition itinerary. The Museum is located in the rooms near the Norman Abbey of Santo Spirito. The exhibition includes many artifacts found in the area of Caltanissetta and Syracuse. The itinerary and the setting up want to recreate and tell the history of the territory through the finds from the proto-history to the Roman and Byzantine era. Among the objects present are of importance: the porphyry statues, the vases and craters in glass, metal and terracotta and finally the remains of architectural decorations in marble. To complete the tour there is a numismatic section with a small collection of coins. The area of Gibil Gabib is an ancient center of the IV - III century. BC where you can admire the ancient necropolis and the ruins of public and private buildings. Interesting are the archaeological documents found in this area among floral decorations, earrings, ivories and amber.
