Giacomo Manzù Museum

The collection of works of the Giacomo Manzù Museum consists of more than 450 sculptures, engravings, jewels, drawings and medals made by Manzù over a period of about 20 years. A large garden surrounds the structure designed by the architect Tommaso Porn and many sculptures are housed right outside, among the plants, whose arrangement was designed by the sculptor himself. Manzù lived near Ardea for many years and has always been linked to these places which now also house his remains. The sculptures on display are almost all bronzes, two large works in ebony, an alabaster sculpture and a stucco bas-relief. The museum also has a large photographic collection of Manzù's works and a collection of three hundred and thirty graphic works - drawings, engravings, theatrical sketches. The large group of Lovers in bronze representing the main work of the "cycle" of Lovers is beautiful. The Museum of Manzù preserves seven specimens, all in bronze, in which the female nude is exalted and celebrated. The collection also includes the preparatory bas-reliefs for the bronze doors of the Cathedral of Salzburg and Rotterdam.
