The Tazio Nuvolari Museum is dedicated to the memory of the unforgettable champion that Ferdinand Porsche defined as "the greatest driver of the past, present and future". Nuvolari (Castel d'Ario 1892 - Mantova 1953) disputed between 1920 and 1950 over 350 motorbike and car races, obtaining no less than 161 victories (91 overall and 70 class), 2 European champion titles, 5 of champion of Italy, 5 international speed records. The precious museum structure is housed in the former Carmelino church, located along the "Path of the Prince", which connects Palazzo Ducale to Palazzo Te, the two most important monuments of the city. It contains the trophies, plaques and cups won by the "Mantovano flying »as well as a rich collection of gold medals, testimonies of a sporting career and a life that have become legend. The personal effects of the champion are of great impact: helmets, gloves, glasses, overalls and the inseparable yellow jersey. Also featured are posters, handwritten letters, certificates, honors, documents. Among these, the telegram sent by Gabriele D'Annunzio after the victory in the Targa Florio of 1932, accompanied by the reproduction of the famous golden turtle with the dedication «To the fastest man, the slowest animal». Original vintage films projected on a large screen and an exhibition of precious scale models allow you to relive the emotion of motor racing in the first half of the twentieth century.
