closed Art awakens the soul

The show

Opening Saturday 26 January at 5 pm

Observing the talent of people with autism spectrum disorders, being able to literally touch it with your hand. It will happen at the Omero Museum in Ancona where, from January 26th to February 23rd, “Art awakens the soul” , the traveling exhibition that invites you to learn about the expressive skills and variety of autistic people, arrives.

The exhibition itinerary, promoted by the associations L'maginario, Autismo Firenze and Amici del Museo Ermitage with the contribution of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers - Department for equal opportunities , is curated by the art historian Cristina Bucci and consists of over 60 paintings. , illustrations and a small selection of ceramics made by 24 Italian artists - one of which from the Marche region - with different histories, potentials and artistic paths, reflecting the many nuances of the autism spectrum.

Now in its sixth stage since its inauguration in Florence in 2017, the social and cultural inclusion project highlights the fundamental role of art and museum space in the construction of new languages, human relationships, as well as in overcoming prejudices towards autistic condition. An exhibition of great educational as well as artistic value that up to now has brought together important cultural institutions of the national territory and starts 2019 together with the Omero Museum, a unique reality specialized in alternative audiences.

The variety of themes and signs will accompany the visitor along the path, highlighting now subjects of pure fantasy, now autobiographical or reinterpretation of art history masterpieces, to which is added the site specific installation, not permanent, by Roberta Biondini entitled "You fear me touches me (fast-track work)". The work of the young artist, a student of the Carrara Academy of Bergamo, is proposed as a vehicle for the themes of the museum through a series of terracotta to touch and consume with touch

Of the same material are also the sculptures made by young people from the Marche in the autism spectrum within the Sensibly 2018 project, activated by the Education Department of the Omero Museum in collaboration with the Municipality of Ancona, and which enrich the exhibition.

In order to promote the themes of museum accessibility, develop skills and enhance neurodiversity, the associations promoting the exhibition, together with the Omero Museum, will finally hold the training course "Musei Arte Autismi" aimed at museum and specialized educators.
