The Musée departemental des arts asiatiques is a museum in Nice which houses collections of Asian art. Inaugurated in 1981, it is housed in a modern building in the heart of the city, designed by the Japanese architect Kenzo Tange. The building is located above an artificial lake in a park. The Asian Art Museum of Nice is a place of encounters and exchanges between Asian arts and Western culture. The museum's collections are part of a selection of works from Asian cultures, which combine court arts and folk or tribal expressions and contemporary creations.
