From 5 July to 10 November 2024
The MAN of Nuoro announces for the summer a major exhibition that will transform all the museum rooms into a dynamic and sensitive space, made of narratives and visions, memories of the land and new horizons. The MAN, like a gigantic diorama - an illusion in a box of a plausible world, a device used mainly in natural history museums to illustrate the environments of the biosphere - will once again offer the public an experience of crossing the museum, already experimented in 2022 with the exhibition SENSORAMA, once again questioning current issues. Derived from the Greek dià (through) and òrama (vision), DIORAMA means "to see through" or "inside something". In this case, through glimpses of natural and unnatural worlds, populated by real or recreated creatures and vegetation, in a perspective that increasingly blurs the boundary between authentic or generated by artificial intelligence, possible or impossible.
In an era of unprecedented ecological and social changes, with impacts that extend in an unprecedented way through time and space, it is important to rethink our relationship with the world and its rapid metamorphoses. We are facing a global ecological transformation that imposes a profound reflection on the condition of the human being, on the history of the earth, and on our connection with other living species. Rethinking our relationship with the planet implies the search for new languages and new forms of communication, essential to renew the connections between the human world and the non-human one. It is from the conviction of actively participating in this process of reinvention that DIORAMA - Generation Earth is born. The idea of being the first generation to face the realistic possibility of the extinction of its own species entails a strong sense of unease. Starting from this condition of disorientation, DIORAMA explores, without claiming to be analytical and exhaustive, the current scenario, proposing possible visions that reflect on such urgent issues.
