The show

Pistoia Musei Foundation presents "MODERN ITALY 1945-1975. From Reconstruction to Contestation" by Marco Meneguzzo. The exhibition, set up in the spaces of Palazzo Buontalenti and divided into two stages sharing the same critical historical intent - The rubble and the visible hope from 18 April to 25 August 2019 and The well-being and the visible crisis from 13 September to 17 November 2019 - presents over one hundred and fifty works, all selected from the Intesa Sanpaolo collections.

The exhibition aims to show the complex Italian artistic fabric in one of the most fruitful periods of transformation of the country. The "Reconstruction" and the "Contestation" are in fact not just two chronological poles within which the idea of Modernity unfolds, declined in the Italian way, but they are two cultural indications and already show an arc of development of ideas and customs that have brought Italy to the international limelight, both as an economy and as a culture.
