The show

The Municipality of Pesaro , in collaboration with the Ente Olivieri - Oliveriani Library and Museums, presents the exhibition "Agostino Iacurci. Tracing Vitruvio. Dream journey through the pages of De Architectura", curated by Marcello Smarrelli, with the scientific advice of Brunella Paolini.
The exhibition is part of the "Exhibitions for Leonardo and Raphael" cycle in Pesaro, Fano and Urbino; project disseminated and implemented jointly by the three municipalities as part of the celebrations promoted by MIBAC for the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci in 2019 and Raffaello Sanzio in 2020, realized with the support of the respective national committees, the contribution of Marche Region and the organization of Sistema Museo.

The choice of treating the figure of Marcus Vitruvius Pollio (80 BC-15 BC approximately) - a famous Roman architect and writer active in the second half of the 1st century. BC considered the most famous architectural theorist of all time - it was born in continuity with Fano who celebrates Leonardo Da Vinci through the sheets of the Codex Atlanticus in which Vitruvius is mentioned several times, to whom the city according to tradition was the birthplace.
"Tracing Vitruvius. Oneiric journey through the pages of De Architectura" is an articulated site specific project conceived, for the Civic Museums of Pesaro, by Agostino Iacurci (1986) - an artist known all over the world especially for his monumental murals made in the public space - composed of three- dimensional and pictorial works with a highly scenographic character, capable of creating a suggestive and engaging dimension that accompanies the presentation of ten different editions of De Architectura , coming from the Oliveriana Library.
