From 14 December to 31 August 2025
The exhibition that brings together donations received by the Museum over the past twenty years, related to fashion and accessories linked by the color black, declined in mourning and evening colors, spanning the late 1800s and early 1900s, was inaugurated at the opening of the XXIV "Week of Maria Luigia". Dresses, shawls, handbags, and jewelry, applications, and sequins thus come together in the two exhibition rooms becoming a narrative about a society in transition. The common thread (or in this case, black thread!) leads to a digression on a material that was very popular at that time, although now forgotten: French jet, a black glass born as a more popular version of jet brought into the limelight by Queen Victoria's mourning jewelry.
The exhibition includes support tools for everyone, especially for people with visual disabilities, namely the possibility to listen to the explanatory panels through audio tracks accessible with QR Codes and a tactile panel where visitors can touch the many materials on display.
