The Almo Collegio Borromeo, founded in 1561 by Saint Carlo Borromeo, is located in Pavia and is the oldest merit college in Italy still in operation as a high cultural qualification institution. It is also one of the founding institutions of the University Institute for Advanced Studies (IUSS) in Pavia.
