On Saturday, December 6, the exhibition 'Ferruccio Mengaroni (1875 - 1925). Genius of ceramics' will open, the show with which Pesaro celebrates an undisputed protagonist of Pesaro maiolica on the occasion of a double important anniversary: 150 years since his birth and the centenary of his death. The venue is also twofold: the Civic Museums of Palazzo Mosca alongside the CAME (Ceramiche Artistiche Mengaroni), one of the three museums of the Ferruccio Mengaroni Art School. Curated by Federico Malaventura and Claudio Paolinelli, the exhibition is promoted by the Municipality of Pesaro/Culture Department and Pescheria Foundation - Visual Arts Center in collaboration with Pesaro Museums, Ferruccio Mengaroni Art School, Rotary Club Pesaro. The organization is by Mjras snc/Urbino.

The inauguration will have two stages: at 5 pm the preview at CAME, at 6 pm the opening at the Civic Museums of Palazzo Mosca. The two openings will be enhanced by the presence of student Ciceroni from the Mengaroni Art School, ready to guide the public to the main exhibition of the Christmas festivities.

A multifaceted figure, a rebellious genius, and a man of singular talent, Mengaroni interprets the istoriato of the Renaissance, drawing inspiration from the ceramics of the Domenico Mazza collection preserved in the city museum and often bringing them back to life as if they were original works from the sixteenth century. A potter, kiln worker, and painter, he skillfully studies and experiments with the secrets of fourteenth and fifteenth-century maiolica, reproducing even the metallic reflections following the techniques of ancient ceramists. His eclectic virtuosity emerges from every creation. Capable of blending the styles of Renaissance schools, throughout his life he shapes a stylistic and chromatic repertoire worthy of the 'last great artist of the Renaissance': as defined by Gian Carlo Polidori, director of the Civic Museums from 1945 to 1962. His veneration for the painters of the Fourteenth and Fifteenth centuries and for the classical world, combined with absolute mastery of technical means, leads him to create masterpieces such as the Triumph of Caesar - taken from the nine large canvases that Andrea Mantegna created between 1486 and 1492 for the Gonzaga family -, the panel with the Battle of Maxentius from the Vatican Rooms by Giulio Romano, and the large amphora with the Last Judgment from Michelangelo's fresco in the Sistine Chapel.
