The Fernando Melani House - studio is located in the historic center of Pistoia and is part of the Civic Museums. The House - studio is dedicated to the Pistoian artist Fernando Melani and can be considered an excellence of contemporary art. In 1987 it was purchased by the Municipality of Pistoia together with over 2800 works. Thanks to the subsequent restorations of the building and some of the works it contained, it was possible to reopen the Museum. The artist Fernando Melani reflects his research and his experience in the main art movements of the second half of the twentieth century: poor art, minimal art and conceptual art. The works are arranged along the walls of the House - Studio, as it was conceived by the artist after their realization. In 2005 the collection was enriched thanks to the bequest of Donatella Giuntoli which consisted of 148 works by Fernando Melani. The exhibition tells the story, the artistic activity, the material experiments and the thought of the artist Melani.
