The show

The Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art continues the program of commissions of works of art created in homage to the masterpieces of the Cerruti Collection launched in May 2019, on the occasion of the opening to the public of the villa that houses the collection of Francesco Federico in Rivoli Cerruti (1922 - 2015). On Wednesday 30 October a new tribute created by the artist Elisa Sighicelli will be presented to the public.

Elisa Sighicelli (Turin, 1968) uses photography to work on photography. Merging with tactile and material supports, his images capture the echoes of the visible, analyzing the ways in which reality reflects itself. “ His most recent works - writes Marcella Beccaria - arise from the encounter with the Cerruti Collection. During 2019, the artist went several times to the Rivoli villa that houses the collection, making a series of inspections even during the restoration work, when the rooms were devoid of works of art and some wall furnishings were partially covered by protective plastics. Set up in Room 10 , the photographs entitled Lumenombra (2019) return the atmosphere of the villa's dining room. In these works printed on satin , Sighicelli seems to capture the echo of Giorgio de Chirico's masterpieces usually set up there, dwelling on the mystery of shadows produced by the light suspended between the ancient mirrors and the large plastics used to cover them. In Room 11, two works entitled Lumenicta (2019) are exhibited. Combining “light” and “night” , the word invented by Sighicelli testifies to the charm of the now restored villa. Using a flashlight, Sighicelli ideally wanted to illuminate the private story of Francesco Federico Cerruti, the singular owner of a house destined to welcome him not as an inhabitant with human needs but only as a collector animated by a visionary passion for art ".

The tribute by Elisa Sighicelli will be added to the works presented in the first and second chapter of the program and housed in the external atrium of the Castello di Rivoli, on the first floor, but also in the garden of Villa Cerruti. Works of art that in their heterogeneity are inspired by the masterpieces of the past collected by Francesco Federico Cerruti, his passion for books and bindings, the architecture of the villa and the biography of this reserved entrepreneur and collector.
