The show

The Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art in collaboration with the City of Rivoli unveils a new project by Patrizio Di Massimo (Jesi, 1983) which is part of the new program of site-specific commissions for the public space of the mechanized lift, initially designed to connect the historic center of the city to the square of the Castle. Closed since 2011, the path has been redeveloped and made accessible in specific areas so as to be usable by the community and become an unprecedented exhibition space, capable of hosting new works of contemporary art, specially commissioned by the Castello di Rivoli and open from Thursday to Sunday, from 11:30 to 18:30. The first project is curated by Stella Bottai.

Designed by Patrizio Di Massimo specifically for the spaces of the mechanized ascent of Rivoli and the four stations that characterize it, The cycle of La Risalita (2020) was created with the precious and laborious technique of oil on canvas, inspired by the tradition of the great pictorial cycles. Divided into four monumental polyptychs, for a total of 17 canvases, it was produced by the artist with the collaboration of Sara Bertin, Carola Blanco, Francesco Rocco Caputo, Francesco Isgrò, Khatereh Safajoo, Matilde Martinez, Giulia Polla, Sara Pirozza, Teresa Verrascina, Scenography students from the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin, following a series of workshops hosted by Combo in Turin. Just like in an old artist's workshop, Di Massimo involved the students in all stages of production, teaching them his own method starting from the photography of the characters and the composition of the sketches, up to the actual pictorial realization.
