The mostù Recently the offices of the National Roman Museum inaugurated in 2001, is located on’ area of the archaeological excavations that brought to light the porch of the Lucio Balbo dà the name of the complex, as well as exhibits related to the life of’ isolated, outlining the history of the urban landscape by’ antiquityà to medieval times. L’ eccezionalità The museum, which is on two floors,è given by the fact that stands on the same museum archeologica.Il area, housed in the restored rooms of the building complex arose from Middle Ages on Crypta Balbo, is divided into two sections which illustrate, , respectively l and transformations of a central sector of the urban landscape from’ antiquityà the twentieth century and l’ evolution of urban culture between the V and IX century . On the ground floorè told the’ archeology and the history of the complex of Balbo and the nearby Porticus Minucia Frumentaria where it was distributed grain to the citizens, with a diachronic view of urban history from’ età Roman times to the twentieth century. Featured è dedicated to più Recent archaeological digs which brought in light a complex of residential buildings , external to the Crypt, built after a fire in’ A.D. 80, had devastated the area. The buildings, houses and shops , suffered many transformations until the final abandonment in the seventh century d.C.Il second floor illustrates the transformation of the cityà from the fourth to the ninth century, with details of the aspects of material and artistic culture. This storyè made possible by the large amountà and varietyà the finds recovered from excavations as well asé by material from other archaeological investigations conducted in Rome and historic Roman museums collections. In the basementè can visit the archaeological remains found in the   cellars of buildings because of the Dark Shops . In’ archaeological area outsideè can visit the remains of the avatoio the Convent of Santa Caterina , of’ exedra of the Crypta Balbi, and the neighborhood that rises to its shoulders.
