Pastificio Cerere Foundation

The Pastificio Cerere Foundation

The Pastificio Cerere Foundation was founded in Rome in 2004 by the will of its president, Flavio Misciattelli, with the aim of promoting and disseminating contemporary art.

In 2005 he inaugurated the headquarters inside what was once the Pastificio Cerere , a former pasta factory built in 1905 and active until the second post-war period. Since the 1970s, the abandoned factory has been spontaneously repopulated by artists, who have decided to establish their studios there: places to live in to experience daily experimentation.

Over the years even critics, intellectuals and exponents of the entertainment world have gravitated around this forge which has become a reference point for culture in general. With the aim of preserving this great cultural heritage, the Pastificio Cerere Foundation first of all allowed users to freely access a space dedicated to contemporary art: through a rich proposal of meetings, exhibitions and workshops - to favor the interaction of languages contemporary art and experimentation with new methods of intervention and participation, stimulating an open dialogue with Rome and involving an increasingly heterogeneous public.

Since 2011, with the appointment as artistic director of Marcello Smarrelli, the Pastificio Cerere Foundation has developed an increasingly marked interest in artistic practices more linked to issues of cultural and territorial policy, to public and participatory art projects, to educational programs innovative , through the establishment of scholarships for residencies addressed to young artists and curators and activities for students belonging to heterogeneous age groups.

In December 2018 the Foundation expands its rooms, inaugurating the Spazio Molini , obtained from the recovery of the ancient mill of the Pastificio Cerere. Today, crossing the threshold of this majestic building, one immediately has the impression of being in an attractive, engaging and inclusive place. A rare example of a private space that has spontaneously become, thanks to the presence of artists, a contemporary workshop, a cultural hub in which research, innovation and experimentation are significantly intertwined with the events of the city and interact with public, private and cultural institutions. from all over the world.
