The GNAMC presents the exhibition "Bice Lazzari. The languages of her time", a targeted selection of significant works, organized according to a chronological path already experimented in the first Milanese stage of the exhibition at Palazzo Citterio. This core will be further enriched by works that expand and deepen the critical path started in Milan. In total, in the exhibition, realized in collaboration with the Bice Lazzari Archive, over 150 works will be exhibited.
Among these, in addition to the works that Palma Bucarelli wanted to acquire for the National Gallery during her mandate, the work that the historical director chose for her personal collection will also be presented for the first time. "The GNAMC pays tribute to an artist of extraordinary relevance, who courageously experimented with the different languages of the post-war period, making a contribution as a woman and as a protagonist to the development of Italian art" declares Renata Cristina Mazzantini, director of the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art. A section of the exhibition will be dedicated to the field of applied arts, with the presentation of more than 80 sketches and preparatory studies made by the artist for the design of fabrics, cushions, jewelry, mural art, and decorative interventions in some Roman public places. The two spectacular tapestries designed for the motor ship Raffaello will also be exhibited, which, after the dismantling of the vessel, were donated by the IRI to the National Gallery. To complete the exhibition path, a large mural wall of about four meters will offer a monumental testimony of Bice Lazzari's spatial and sign research.
