From 29 March to 30 June 2019
Inauguration : March 28, 6:30 pm
Istituto Svizzero presents “Chaussures italiennes”, the first solo exhibition in Italy by the artist Sylvie Fleury.
Fleury's approach consists of an initial representation of a characteristic shape which is subsequently enriched, enlarged and developed through the use of different media. The shape, color and graphic design of shoes, lipsticks, shopping trolleys or fashion magazines become independent and stand-alone visual systems of representation, thus entering a new aesthetic environment.
Sylvie Fleury's works constantly re-invent our relationships with works of art by exploiting an intelligent sense of staging : an act of removing signs and objects, a deviation of the meaning of codes, perspectives or lifestyles, and a strong evocation of the body between presence, loss and absence, maintaining a particular relationship with space.
