The Memmo Foundation presents Conversation Piece | Part VI , the new appointment in the cycle of exhibitions, curated by Marcello Smarrelli, dedicated to Italian and foreign artists temporarily present in Rome.

The exhibition, open to the public from January 15, 2020 to March 22, 2020, features Corinna Gosmaro (artist, CRT Italian Fellowship in Visual Arts at the American Academy in Rome), Philippe Rahm (architect, fellow at the French Academy - Villa Medici in 1999/2000 and currently residing in Rome) and Rolf Sachs (Swiss artist and designer, who has recently established his own studio in Rome).

The subtitle of the exhibition, Reality is what does not disappear when you stop believing in it, is a quote contained in the essay How to build a universe that does not fall apart after two days (1978-1985) by writer Philip K. Dick, which reiterates a positivist vision of reality, anchored to the concreteness of objects. The nature of reality is also the core of the research of the philosopher Maurizio Ferraris and his Manifesto of the new realism (2012), according to which reality - contradicting some "dogmas" of postmodernism - would not be infinitely manipulable, marking the return of "truth" and of "objectivity" as valid tools for reading the present.

The exhibition, born from a series of conversations with Philippe Rahm (Pully - Switzerland, 1967) and from his research into architecture, art and design (which the author himself indicates as close to the theories of "new realism"), also testifies through the works of the other artists involved, a trust in objects as possible agents of change. The works, created specifically for the exhibition, seem to react to these conceptual solicitations, seeking a dialogue between them, with the environments of the Memmo Foundation and with the city.
