From 12 May to 22 June 2025
On May 12th, the personal exhibition of Vincenzo Scolamiero, "Like lost dreams," curated by Maria Giuseppina Di Monte and Roberto Gramiccia, opens at the Hendrik Christian Andersen House Museum belonging to the Pantheon Institute and Castel Sant'Angelo - National Museums Directorate of the City of Rome, in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts of Rome.
Vincenzo Scolamiero exhibits six large canvases, specially conceived for the Andersen House; the exhibition focuses on two installations in perfect harmony with the place where the artist has scattered the traces of his inspiration: among clods, gleanings, and fragments donated by nature, with remains of unfinished works by the homeowner.
The exhibition concept is an integral part of the exhibition, marking its path and explaining its intention. It is not just an installation but a journey that engages with the site that Scolamiero sees crystallized over time and laden with traces of lived life and creative experiences driven by a utopian will: that of imagining an ideal city, home to a perpetual laboratory where art was meant to meet science, philosophy, music, religious thought, and aesthetic thought.
Hendrik Andersen's unrealized ideal project fueled his imagination, marking his expressive path. The utopia that remains a lost dream but continues to emanate its imaginative force is embodied in the exhibition title, "Like lost dreams," which recalls a phrase from Georg Büchner's novella Lenz, much loved by Scolamiero. A metaphor for the mad and hallucinatory journey through a dizzying and hostile nature. In it, he recognizes the metaphor of the artist's condition, inexorably driven to find fulfillment of his creativity, an unrealizable and elusive landing of his expressive dream.
