Opens 10 June 2021 at the MAO TOAsean Design, the exhibition that showcases the projects created by the students of the 2nd year of the Triennial course in Jewelery and Accessories Design at IED Turin, inspired by the works of the MAO Museo d'Arte Orientale, together with some pieces made by eleven Piedmontese artisan excellences.
The collaboration between the European Institute of Design and the MAO is also renewed for 2021, which this year gave life to the TOAsean Design exhibition, created thanks to the contribution of the CRT Foundation. As part of the homonymous initiative, supported by the Italy-Myanmar Chamber of Commerce to promote Italian design in the East and strengthen the cultural relationship between Italy and the countries of South East Asia, seven second-year students of the three-year course in Jewelery Design and Accessories of IED Turin were invited to design as many creations inspired by the works of the permanent collection of the Museum of Oriental Art.
The encounter with statues and objects, coming from distant worlds and eras, triggered the creative process: through a careful look and in-depth research, the young designers have designed jewels and accessories, unique pieces that decline aesthetic suggestions and cultural symbols in key Contemporary.
This year the project is enriched by the collaboration with CNA Turin, the National Confederation of Crafts and Small and Medium Enterprises: eleven artisan companies, seven of which have supported the creation of the works of IED students, have designed or revisited as many precious objects of their collections based on suggestions from Asian countries, giving life to eleven creations that testify to the competence and creativity of Piedmontese artisan companies.
