The United Nations has designated 2025 as the International Year of Glacier Conservation, and for the occasion MUSE Agorà is hosting a project dedicated to the research activities conducted by the museum on glacial environments and their biodiversity.
Glaciers are custodians of valuable information, preserving traces of Earth's past and signals of its future. They cover about 10% of the Earth's surface, but are essential regulators of the climate and habitats that host a unique biodiversity, threatened with extinction due to an unprecedented melting rate. Their disappearance is causing a profound transformation of the environment and the mountain and polar landscape, with denied impacts on activities such as tourism, agriculture, pastoralism, and hydropower production.At the center of the exhibition are the results of MUSE's scientific research in the High Lands and in relation to the cryosphere: through texts, tools, artifacts, and multimedia content, you can learn about the methods, tools, and results of glaciological, biological, and ecological studies conducted in the area.
The initiative is part of the MUSE for the International Year of Glacier Conservation proposal.
