If for us human beings altruism is a way of being that has to do with ethics and philosophy of life, from a biological point of view a behavior is considered altruistic, the costs, for those who do it, are greater than the benefits. .
In the exhibition, through panels, photographs and videos, it will be discovered which animal species can act for the good of their neighbor by behaving in ways that seem to contradict the foundations of the theory of evolution. The investigation will also extend to other dynamics found among animals: collaboration, reciprocity, up to the great theme of empathy and the questions that altruism still poses to science.
The exhibition, born as part of the Master Fauna and Human Dimension, promoted by the University of Insubria together with MUSE, is enriched by a series of in-depth interviews that allow us to read altruism and empathy from different points of view , from the philosophy of science to ethology.
