Rockheim, officially known as the National Museum for Popular Music, is the Norwegian national museum dedicated to pop and rock music from 1950 to the present day. Located in a former warehouse (year 1919) at Brattørkaia 14 on the port of Trondheim, it has been part of the organization Museene i Sør‑Trøndelag since 2010.
The visit begins in the spectacular Top Box on the sixth floor: a glass structure illuminated by thousands of LEDs and decorated with iconic album covers. The main exhibition unfolds in a "backward" path through musical decades, with a room for each period (the '50s, '60s, '70s, and so on until the new millennium), enriched by interactive installations: guitar tutorials, DJ corner, digital graffiti, and VR with Virtuelle Rockheim.
Rockheim also houses the prestigious Hall of Fame, established since 2011, which celebrates influential Norwegian artists like a-ha, Åge Aleksandersen, Wenche Myhre, chosen by a jury.
