The show

From 25 October 2023 to 7 January 2024 the MAO presents the exhibition A short elegy , curated by add editore, which collects a selection of plates by the Taiwanese artist and illustrator Animo Chen extracted from his two latest editorial works, A short elegy and Love Letters, is a video animation with the music and voice of Sam Liao, a Taiwanese musician.

In a process of conversion of words into images, Animo Chen's illustrations return a dense and delicate story, an exploration of lack, loss, distance, love, with a language that allows poetry to take shape in color and in images.

In his works the artist investigates the deepest and most visceral feelings of the human being and recounts with a light touch but with great visual power the joy, the pain, the minute desires of every day: the first encounter of a child with death, the life of a couple, the loss of a child, the journey of a girl to a distant city, in search of her beloved.

The exhibition is organized with the contribution of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
