For the Royal Museums of Turin, the year that is about to begin in a few days will be truly "unprecedented".

2026 will bring a rich program of new initiatives and fascinating discoveries, including cultural paths and activities.

A schedule that will be unveiled during a press conference, expected in the second half of January, but that will kick off on February 6 with the exhibition dossier Beato Angelico through the eyes of Bartholomäus Spranger. Universal Judgments compared.

Until May 3, the thematic exhibition proposes, for the first time, a direct comparison between the extraordinary and pioneering iconographic invention, developed by Beato Angelico around 1425-1428, for the representation of the Universal Judgment in the famous panel now preserved at the Museum of San Marco — exceptionally loaned by the Regional Directorate of National Museums of Tuscany, within the framework of cultural relations and exchange between museums of the national museum system of the Ministry of Culture — and the work belonging to the collections of the Galleria Sabauda, executed by the Flemish painter Bartholomäus Spranger between 1570 and 1571 for Pope Pius V. The latter, openly inspired by the model of Beato Angelico, allows to investigate the modes of reception, reinterpretation, and transmission of a figurative prototype of great charm, highlighting continuity and transformations of the theme between the early Renaissance and mature Mannerism. The exhibition takes place on the occasion of the return to the Royal Museums of the panel by Fra Giovanni da Fiesole depicting the Madonna of Humility, loaned to the monographic exhibition Beato Angelico (Florence, Palazzo Strozzi and Museum of San Marco, September 26, 2025 – January 25, 2026).
