The exhibition "Warriors from the Rising Sun", curated by the Yoshin Ryu Association in collaboration with the MAO Oriental Art Museum of Turin, wants to pay homage to the figure of the warrior woman in Japan.
The history of Japan encompasses an eight-century-long period characterized by many clashes and battles, in which women, especially those of the warrior class, were educated to carry out every task, from the financial and economic management of their family to those that could involve the use of arms.

The warrior woman, onna-bugeisha , was prepared for the defense of the mansions, trained in the use of various weapons, in pitched battles and even in the eventuality of giving herself to death.
Famous names remain from that past, whose legendary deeds are remembered through theatrical dramas, paintings and film plots.
