On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the disappearance of the scholar, gallery owner and collector, MAXXI pays tribute to her with a focus in the museum room dedicated to her.
With the intention of promoting, spreading, making accessible the art she loved most, she had engaged in the last years of her life in important donations to enrich the heritage of various public collections. In 2010, he donated to the MAXXI 58 works from the collection originally kept in his Roman home in front of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. A gesture of great generosity and trust towards an institution that then took its first steps.
In a path that goes from 1970, with works among others by Pier Paolo Calzolari and Urs Lüthi, to 2006 with Bruna Esposito and Muhammad-Imran Qureshi, the Gian Ferrari collection tells the ferments and trends of thirty years of the history of contemporary art.
