In September LE STANZE DEL VETRO dedicate a unique study dedicated to the activity of the Venini glassworks in the field of lighting. On the occasion of the exhibition, as a tribute to Carlo Scarpa , the large polyhedral chandelier designed by the architect for “ Italia 61 ” was reconstructed and the famous “ Velario ” created for the roof of Palazzo Grassi was rearranged.

The autumn exhibition dedicated to the history of the Venini glassworks is Venini: Luce 1921-1985, curated by Marino Barovier and open to the public at LE STANZE DEL VETRO from 18 September 2022 to 8 January 2023: the exhibition intends to narrate the activity of the famous furnace in the field of lighting, from small to large scale, showing some of the most representative examples.

A significant area of Murano glass production is in fact made up of lighting both for domestic use and for large public and private environments, from ministerial buildings to post offices, from theaters to hotels. The Venini glassworks has in fact distinguished itself with significant results in this sector too thanks to its ability to constantly update and its openness towards the world of design, aspects which have made it a point of reference for the most important architects both national and international scene.

Venini: Luce 1921-1985 presents a careful selection of 81 objects both designed by the various designers who collaborated with the furnace and studied by the technical office of the same glassworks, illustrating how the theme of light has been tackled over the various decades, in an arc chronological that goes from 1921 to 1985 .

Among the protagonists of this narrative are, among others, the Murano painter Vittorio Zecchin , with his refined reworking of the chandelier in the early 1920s; the sculptor Napoleone Martinuzzi , with his original pulegoso glass artefacts from 1928-30, followed by the architect Tomaso Buzzi and the architect Carlo Scarpa who boasts a long collaboration with the glassworks which ended in 1947. In the 1950s he was further confirmed the privileged relationship between the designers and the Murano furnace to which architects such as Gio Ponti, Franco Albini, Ignazio Gardella and the BBPR studio turned. On the other hand, in the same years, Paolo Venini also called young people from the Venice School of Architecture to the glassworks, such as Massimo Vignelli, who designed a series of lamps inspired by Nordic design, revisited in a Murano key
