Vercelli Cathedral Treasure Museum

The museum

The Cathedral Treasure Museum unfolds in a wing of the Archbishop's Palace richly frescoed in the sixteenth century and tells the thousand-year history of the diocese of Vercelli.

It offers the six-monthly exhibition Passeggiando tra sacro e profane, a series of cultural events for adults and children dedicated to the discovery of the museum and book heritage preserved in the adjacent Capitular Library. The exhibition includes goldsmith works, liturgical furnishings and furnishings, fabrics and paintings coming largely from the Cathedral of S. Eusebio. Each work is linked to important moments in the history of Vercelli, not only on a religious level, but also on a social, political and artistic level, for the long period from the 3rd to the 20th century.

The complexity of the collection allows us to propose ordinary and extraordinary events to various audiences, often held in collaboration with city museums, local authorities, national and international universities. In addition to the guided tours and educational workshops ordinarily offered to schools, visits aimed at learning about particular periods or aspects, conferences, workshops and laboratories for adults are often organised.

The Museum is also open to new technological frontiers in the field of conservation and study of cultural heritage, often being part of national and international scientific projects.
