Albertina Modern, inaugurated in 2020, is the Viennese museum entirely dedicated to modern and contemporary art. Located in Karlsplatz, in the heart of the city, it represents the second museum pole of the Albertina and one of the most important exhibition spaces in Europe for the artistic production of the 20th and 21st centuries.
The museum houses an extraordinary collection of over 60,000 works, resulting from the merger with the renowned Essl Collection and the extensive graphic heritage of the Albertina. Among the protagonists are Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Pablo Picasso, Georg Baselitz, Arnulf Rainer, along with major names in international contemporary art and a strong representation of Austrian artists.
The permanent and temporary exhibitions offer an immersive journey that explores currents such as Expressionism, Pop Art, Abstract and Conceptual Art, up to the most recent digital experiments. The modern architecture of the spaces, with large rooms and minimalist design, creates a perfect environment to enhance the artworks and installations.
Albertina Modern is not just a museum, but a vibrant center of contemporary culture, with events, meetings, and initiatives that engage with the present. It is an essential stop for those who want to discover the most innovative face of Viennese and international art.
