Johann Strauss Jr. (1825 - 1899) lived for several years in a prestigious Bürgerhaus, a typical townhouse for the bourgeois class, on Praterstraße. His apartment is located on the Beletage, the most elegant and distinguished floor, representing his peak career reputation. The splendid living and working spaces of the original apartment are now a memorial to the musician, which includes an exciting exhibition on the Waltz King. Here, Strauss composed his most famous waltz in 1867, The Blue Danube, also known as the Danube Waltz.
