A journey back in time to ancient Vienna: this is what the Römermuseum at Hoher Markt offers. Thanks to the modern technologies used, visitors can get a realistic idea of how daily life unfolded in the Roman legionary camp and the connected civil and military city: "Vindobona."
Artifacts dating back to the Roman period in Vienna, such as the tribunes' houses in the legionary camp and 300 fascinating archaeological finds, cover the entire spectrum of Roman life in the second and third centuries. Objects of daily life and worship, building fragments, figures and toys, drainage covers and tableware, statues of gods, and various trinkets are on display to the public. Advanced three-dimensional technologies allow visitors to infer from graphics and murals what the environment of those times could have been like.
