The Museum of Entrepreneurship

The Museum of Entrepreneurship is located in Palazzo Merula, next to the Historical Archive of the Municipality of Vigevano, in via Merula n ° 40. It was established in 2005 by the Municipality - Department of Culture, with the promotion of the Rotary Club Vigevano Mortara.

Admission to the Museum is totally free. The Museum narrates the economic development of our territory, with reference to the textile, footwear and mechanical sectors. It shows documents, posters and machinery that tell the technological and entrepreneurial evolution over time, in the sectors of interest. The first room illustrates the premises and the origins of the economic development of the city, recognizable as early as the end of the 1400s in the experiences of the "Sforzesca", the first example of an experimental farm also intended for sheep and silkworm breeding; the latter makes use of the exploitation of water (water meadows, mills and canals). The second room houses the nineteenth-century experience in the textile sector, documented by the development of the Vigevano industries, also favored by the construction of infrastructures (such as the railway bridge over the Ticino, the Salto hydroelectric plant and the artifacts for the exploitation of hydraulic energy along the Naviglio Langosco).
