The MUST Museum of the Vimercatese Territory is the first museum dedicated to the eastern Brianza, the area between the Lambro and Adda rivers. Archaeological finds, paintings and artworks, multimedia installations and interactive exhibits, photographs and historical films are displayed and made accessible using the most modern technologies. The exhibition path is divided into 14 rooms spread over two floors for about 1000 square meters. On the ground floor, there is a chronological overview that, starting from the first inhabitants of Vimercatese, reaches the nineteenth century, while on the first floor, there are themes that characterize recent times: industrial production, changes in the territory, and elements of identity and memory of Vimercatese. The MUST was nominated for the EMYA(European Museum of the Year Award) 2012. EMYA is the most prestigious European award for museums, created under the patronage of the Council of Europe. The MUST has also been awarded by ICOM(International Council of Museums) and by the Sole24 Ore Foundation as the Museum of the Year 2012 for the best Italian exhibition design and since 2014, it has been officially recognized by the Lombardy Region as a museum of quality. The MUST is a civic museum managed by the Municipality of Vimercate.
