As for the production of the modern era, the Nineteenth-Century Historicism is well documented. Since the first half of the 19th century, under the influence of romantic currents, Italy has witnessed a return to history and a recovery of styles from the past. In Gubbio, this interest is particularly focused on ceramics, which had reached its peak splendor in the Renaissance and in the production of lusterware. This attention materializes in research that is not only historical but also technological. Angelico Fabbri, an intellectual, patriot, and expert in chemistry, was the material author of the rediscovery of luster in a technical sense. The most active factories, which produced some valuable artifacts, were those of Fabbri and Carrocci, Giovanni Spinaci, Antonio Passalboni, and Giuseppe Magni.
