This magnificent clock depicting the goddess Minerva is the work of Pierre Philippe Thomire, the most important bronze artist, that is, a producer of objects in gilded and patinated bronze, as well as decorative bronze decorations, from the Napoleonic era. His works, inspired by the ancient in the forms and decorative motifs, constitute some of the highest and most refined expressions of the Empire style. Appointed court chiseller, in 1811 he collaborated with the silversmith Odiot in the creation of the famous cradle for the king of Rome, the son of Napoleon and Maria Luisa of Austria.
