Spanish architect and engineer naturalized Swiss, Santiago Calatrava attended the School of Art in Valencia and graduated from the Polytechnic University in 1974. Later he also graduated in Civil Engineering from the Federal Polytechnic School of Zurich. In 1981 he opened his own architecture and engineering studio in Zurich, followed by those in Paris (1989) and Valencia (1991).
