Vasily Kandinsky

16 December 1866, Mosca - 13 December 1944, Neuilly-sur-Seine

Vasily Kandinsky was one of the pioneers of abstract art and a key figure in modern art. Born in Moscow, he abandoned a career in law to dedicate himself to painting, developing an artistic language based on color, form, and emotion.

As the founder of the Der Blaue Reiter movement and a teacher at the Bauhaus, Kandinsky theorized an art capable of expressing spirituality through non-figurative compositions. Works like "Composition VIII" and "Yellow, Red, Blue" testify to his evolution towards pure abstraction.

Today he is considered one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, a reference point for abstract and contemporary art.
